Our design sees the Lavanttal technology park as an open innovation campus that can develop modularly between St. Paul station and Zogglhof. The aim is to create a business and work location with its own identity, high spatial flexibility, clear orientation and strong integration into the landscape. The concept is based on a robust urban system of modular buildings and a central open-space axis – the “Green Spine”.
The Green Spine forms the spatial and social backbone of the quarter. As a publicly accessible axis for movement and lingering, it connects the station, technology park and landscape while providing orientation within the site. Along this axis, differentiated open spaces with different qualities line up: a market square, pocket parks, work yards, places to linger, communicative open-air zones and outdoor areas for restaurants and the kindergarten. The result is a lively campus with a high quality of stay and many opportunities for encounter.
