the worlds best workplace!

start of design process 07/2018

start of construction 04/2019

completion 12/2019

usable area approx. 30,000 m²

for 2,200 staff

for a fashion label in germany, caramel developed 51 adaptable working worlds and implemented them straight away in a simple but innovative way. the high tech of the advanced materials and technologies of the products contrasts with imaginative low tech in the materials and “making of” the working worlds – which seems to be exactly what inspires the staff's coolness and creativity.

process:

*the new user requirements were developed together with the planning team through questionnaires, individual interviews and several design-thinking workshops. the new spatial elements can be repurposed later and partly reassembled by the users themselves

*a sustainable structure that can be adapted without converting the building

programme > playground:

*all new elements are made of natural or recycled materials whose surfaces can be individually appropriated (pin it, peg it, draw on, put your magnets on – leave your traces), and some can be rebuilt by the users themselves

*real sustainability in the conversion by reusing the existing furniture and glass walls

*every workstation gets a window seat

*300 meeting opportunities instead of the previous 50
