there on the hill is the story of bread, and the hill is me and all of us

The exhibition areas are stacked on six floors, each with its own theme. A void with a lift connects all floors with the scent of bread from the bakery on the ground floor. Starting from the top, sixth floor with the introductory “quotation table”, the museum route is staged as a themed path along the external stairs, with constantly changing views of the surrounding landscape. On the ground floor, below the exhibition areas, is the central foyer, which connects the restaurant, multi-purpose room, bakery, shop and library. All ground-floor functions are located beneath a green hill, with a generous entrance opening that frames the market square in front. The car parks are right next to the road access and are separated from the market square by a green zone. Deliveries arrive at the back, independently of the main entrance.

Surfaces

Planted, sloping flat roof with skylights above the ground-floor zone. The museum tower is enclosed by folded concrete walls. The outer surface of the concrete walls consists of insulation boards and a ventilated, homogeneous metal skin. Raised floor with floor ducts for media distribution in the exhibition areas. Bubble deck reinforced-concrete slabs with thermal activation for heating/cooling.
