The former border crossing on Friedrichstraße, known as “Checkpoint Charlie”, is a world-famous place in the heart of Berlin. Today its special history is presented on site through a wide range of historical elements and fragments.
After a competition in 1992, large parts of the former checkpoint have already been built on. The areas of the former border strip, however, are still wasteland today and are used temporarily by facilities relating to the history of the site.
