Above the city, embedded in Vienna's sunny south-facing vineyards, stands the newest Caramel project – House Rock.
Like an eagle's eyrie, it rises out of the allotment-garden neighbourhood and gives its residents what is probably one of the best views from a bathtub over the surrounding hills of the Vienna Woods. At the same time, House Rock nestles against the slope, with its closed street side contrasting with the extroverted, tower-like lookout and the almost complete opening towards the west-facing terrace and pool.
For House Rock, Caramel use the snow-white Corian façade with a wink, as a contrast to the partly cheerfully colourful allotment cottages around it. At the same time, the smooth white acrylic stone acts like a projection screen for the shadow play of the surrounding trees. The client's wish for high-quality materials was met discreetly and unpretentiously. Cast and polished terrazzo of Danube pebbles on the ground floor and in the bathroom, white Corian on the façade, solid oak floorboards and a 12-metre-long opening Sky-Frame glass façade make House Rock a true piece of luxury.
House Rock is one of the few “red carpet” buildings – as Caramel Architekten themselves call them with a smile – that they occasionally build. Sometimes it simply has to be a little more – without showing off.
