a project with isomax custom decor panels for salon iris / galerie artbits by caramel architekten. entrance furniture + an artificial oasis in urban space as an entrance lock made of printed max panels in a jungle design. barely noticeable thin “max compact” backing panels put the artificiality of the surface alone in the foreground.
- an artificial oasis in urban space
- a walk-in oasis and a tangible object
opposing mirrors multiply the oasis into infinity. because the glass entrance door is a one-way mirror, it can be watched from the street without being an actor yourself.
- infinite space connecting the gallery with the public
- direct contact with urban space
using the object creates a sequence of very different spatial impressions on the way into the gallery. entering the tube: the opposite mirror reflects my entrance space. in the tube with the door closed: dissolved into infinity. stepping out into the gallery: a clearly defined interior, with the infinite space of the entrance tube understandable from outside
- a perception lock
- abstract artificiality of the surface through infinite repetition
