educational concept
because the new building is terraced, pupils experience the character of a single-storey garden school with direct access to the outdoors on every floor. in line with this character, the primary school + special-needs centre and the secondary school + pre-vocational school are each placed on one floor. in front of them stretch small-scale terraces that allow lessons and breaks outdoors. on the two upper floors, which house the classroom clusters, all market squares and all classrooms face south-east towards the central schoolyard, either directly or via the market squares. at each of the two central staircases, 3+1 classroom clusters are arranged according to the brief. they are accessed separately vertically and can also optionally be walked through, floor by floor, within the primary school + special-needs centre (1st floor) and the secondary school + pre-vocational school (2nd floor). the classroom clusters are a flexible landscape for learning and communication around the central market square, where sliding elements allow configurations from an individual retreat to the size of a double classroom.
architectural concept
the new buildings, with their large continuous areas, can be used freely. the space is structured only by movable furniture and sliding walls and can therefore be constantly adapted to changing requirements. the façade is part of this furniture inside and out, conveying the spatial character of the interior to the outside through the window furniture elements.
