The redesign of the common room for “BIG” was a response to a computer-dominated working world that in many areas neglects space for relaxation, variety and creativity. Our aim was to create a new focal point in the building – a place that stands out from its neutral surroundings and can be used in many ways thanks to its flexible furniture.

We drew inspiration from the green of nature to create an atmosphere that is both calming and invigorating. Different shades of green, mainly on textile surfaces, create a fresh and pleasantly unified world that you like to immerse yourself in to get new input and energy.

Flexible furniture plays a central role in the concept. With a few simple moves it can be rearranged and adapted to the different needs of everyday office life. Free-standing table boxes, for example, can be combined with table tops hidden in the room to form larger meeting tables, or turned into a standing table together with a seating box. The resulting space is just as suitable for small informal meetings as for the monthly breakfast buffet or larger meetings. Meeting boxes allow confidential conversations while keeping the open atmosphere of the room. In addition, “snuggle boxes” and lounge chairs invite you to take a break now and then.

All in all, the new office space for “BIG” is not just a functional extension of the workplace but a place that offers room for creative exchange and promotes staff wellbeing in everyday working life.
